More Information on Resettable Fuses...
What is a Resettable Fuse?
A resettable fuse, also known as a PPTC or polymeric positive temperature coefficient fuse, is a fuse that trips when the flow of current received is more than the amount that can be managed by the device or wiring. This helps in preventing damage to the attached equipment. A resettable fuse has the advantage of being able to reset itself once the power overload is reversed and current flow is restored to a normal range.
Types of Resettable Fuses
There are several different kinds of resettable fuses. At Future Electronics we stock many of the most common types categorized by Maximum Working Voltage, Hold Current, Trip Current, Operating Temp Range, Size and Packaging Type. The parametric filters on our website can help refine your search results depending on the required specifications.
The most common sizes for Maximum Working Voltage are 16 V, 30 V and 60 V. We also carry resettable fuses with Maximum Working Voltage up to 600 V. Trip current can be between 100 mA and 9.4A, with the most common values being 1 A, 1.5 A, 2.2 A and 5 A.
