Renesas HIP2210/HIP2211 Half-Bridge Drivers
Rugged 100V half-bridge MOSFET drivers combine high speed and high voltage rating.
Renesas has launched the HIP2211 and HIP2210, new 100V half-bridge MOSFET drivers which are robust enough to give a long lifetime in products operating on 48V power. These applications include: Telecoms power supplies, the 48V motor drives in lithium-ion battery-powered household or outdoor products. Typical propagation delay of 15ns and delay matching of just 2ns also make the HIP2211 and HIP2210 ideal for high-frequency switching applications.
The Renesas HIP2211 is a pin-compatible upgrade to Renesas’ popular HI-/LI-input ISL2111 bridge driver. The new HIP2210 offers a three-level PWM input to simplify the design of power supplies and motor drives.
The Renesas HIP221x drivers work reliably under difficult operating conditions: their high-speed, high-voltage High-side (HS) pin tolerates up to -10V continuously, and handles slew at rates up to 50V/ns. A maximum voltage on the bootstrap supply of 115V DC - and 120V absolute maximum on the high side - mean that these drivers can safely handle 100V on the half-bridge.
Comprehensive under-voltage protection works in tandem with the HIP2210 driver’s programmable anti-shoot-through protection to ensure the driven MOSFETs are not damaged by exposure to power-supply or other external fault conditions.

Evaluation Boards
The HIP2210EVAL1Z evaluation board includes an HIP2210 half-bridge driver which drives the gates of two N-channel MOSFETs in a half-bridge configuration. The board includes two N-channel MOSFETs and an inductor-capacitor (LC) filter to allow for the evaluation of a half-bridge driven load such as a synchronous buck switching regulator.
The HIP2210EVAL1Z evaluation board operates from a supply voltage of 6V-18V DC, and is capable of driving both the high- and low-side MOSFETs in a 100V half-bridge configuration.
