A varistor is a resistor with the characteristic of having a very non-ohmic current-voltage. Varistors generally act as a spark gap and are used for protecting circuits from excessive voltage. A metal oxide varistor, or MOV, is the most common type of varistor and contains a mass of zinc oxide grains that are in a matrix of other metal oxides and sandwiched between two metal plates, acting as the electrodes. A multilayer varistor, or MLV, provides electronic circuits with an electrostatic discharge protection.
There are many different kinds of MOV & MLV varistors and at Future Electronics we stock many of the most common types categorized by Rated Voltage, Maximum Clamping Voltage, Capacitance, Peak Output Current, Packaging type and Maximum RMS Voltage. The parametric filters on our website can help refine your search results depending on the required specifications.
The most common sizes for Rated Voltage are 14 V, 26 V and 200 V. We also carry MOV & MLV varistors with Rated Voltage as high as 28 kV. Peak Output Current can be between 100 nA and 100 kA, with the most common MOV & MLV varistors having a Peak Output Current of 30 A, 100 A, 250 A, 1.2 kA or 6.5 kA.
Future Electronics has a full selection of metal oxide varistors, multi layer varistors and high voltage metallic oxide varistors of all types and sizes when looking for MOV or MLV varistors for your circuit or application. Simply choose from the MOV & MLV varistor technical attributes below and your search results will quickly be narrowed to match your specific MOV & MLV varistor application needs.
We deal with many manufacturers. You can easily refine your MOV & MLV varistor product search results by clicking your preferred MOV & MLV varistor brand below from our list of manufacturers.
MOV & MLV Varistors can be used in all types of electronic applications including:
When you are looking for the right MOV & MLV varistors, with the FutureElectronics.com parametric search, you can filter the results by various attributes: by Rated Voltage (3.3 V, 14 V, 26 V, 200 V,…), Peak Output Current (100 nA, 30 A, 100 A, 250 A, 1.2 kA , 6.5 kA) and Capacitance (from 0.8 pF to 1050 µF) to name a few. You will be able to find the right multi layer varistors, metal oxide varistors and high voltage metallic oxide varistors of different sizes and types for your circuit or application.
If the quantity of MOV & MLV varistors required is less than a full reel, we offer customers many of our products in quantities that will avoid unneeded surplus.
