Diodes Incorporated DPO2039DABQ Automotive USB Type-C® Port Protector
USB Type-C port protector offers electrical and thermal protection
Diodes has introduced the DPO2039DABQ, an automotive USB Type-C® port protector which protects devices from ESD events, faults caused by the presence of an excessive voltage or short circuit on any of the four data lines, or an over-temperature event.
The DPO2039DABQ’s high level of ESD protection up to ±2kV eliminates the need for external transient voltage suppressors.
The AEC-Q100 qualified protection device is PPAP-capable. In vehicles, it is intended for use with USB Type-C ports built into a head unit or rear-seat entertainment unit, or provided as an in-car charger for mobile phones and other battery-powered devices.
The DPO2039DABQ includes high-performance MOSFETs and control logic to isolate the data lines when a fault condition is detected. The typical over-voltage fault-detection response time is 100ns. The thermal shut-down function has a triggering threshold of 150°C with 20°C hysteresis.
The DPO2039DABQ features low insertion loss: on-resistance is 300mΩ and equivalent capacitance is a maximum of 50pF, so use of the device does not reduce the bandwidth of USB Type-C data lines.
