STMicroelectronics STM32C5 Series of Microcontrollers

Modern Cortex-M33 performance for cost-sensitive designs

The STM32C5 series from STMicroelectronics introduces a new generation of entry-level microcontrollers designed to deliver higher processing performance, enhanced security, and cost-efficient scalability. Built on ST’s modern 40 nm manufacturing platform and powered by an Arm® Cortex®-M33 core running at up to 144 MHz, STM32C5 devices deliver up to 593 CoreMark performance while maintaining low power consumption and competitive bill-of-materials costs.

Designed to support the growing capabilities of connected devices, the STM32C5 series enables faster processing for sensing, control, and user interface functions. With improved performance compared to typical entry-level MCUs, developers gain the flexibility to integrate richer features and smoother system operation without increasing system complexity or cost.

The STM32C5 series also incorporates built-in security mechanisms to help protect devices from tampering and cyber threats. Hardware cryptography, secure key storage, and support for PSA Level 3 and SESIP3 security targets enable designers to build safer connected products across industrial and consumer applications.

Developers benefit from STMicroelectronics’ comprehensive STM32 ecosystem, including the STM32Cube development environment with production-ready drivers, code generation tools, and extensive example software. This ecosystem helps accelerate development cycles while enabling easy scalability and migration across the broader STM32 family.

Available in package sizes ranging from compact 3 mm × 3 mm UFQFPN20 to 20 mm × 20 mm LQFP144, the STM32C5 series supports a wide range of device form factors. STM32 Nucleo evaluation boards and graphical interface development tools further simplify prototyping and system integration.

The new STM32C5 series is aimed at consumer and professional devices like smart thermostats, electronic door locks, industrial smart sensors, robotic actuators, wearable electronics, and computer peripherals.
