Panasonic PAN4620 Series IEEE® 802.15.4 and Bluetooth® Low Energy Module
Featuring maximum flexibility
The PAN4620 is Panasonic’s Internet of Things (IoT) Dual Mode RF Module which includes NXP’s Kinetis KW41Z System on Chip (SoC), a 2.4 GHz 802.15.4 and Bluetooth® Low Energy wireless radio microcontroller based on an ARM® Cortex-M0+ core.
The combination of the PAN4620 with low power consumption and NXP’s certified Thread® stack, Bluetooth® Low Energy stack or a combination of both for concurrent operation allows the Panasonic PAN4620 to meet IoT application requirements without the need for a gateway. The PAN4620 module incorporates all the required hardware elements, including a chip antenna, and the protocol software, providing a simple and quick way for OEMs to enable end-points to connect wirelessly to the internet. The Thread network protocol does not define an application layer, so various application layers can be used such as dotdot, IoTivity or OpenDOF.
The PAN4620 is supplied with FCC, IC and CE approvals. The surface-mount module measures 15.6mm x 8.7mm x 1.9mm.
The IoT module can be used as a stand-alone controller to maximize flexibility. With 512 kB flash memory and 128 kB SRAM, the PAN4620 reduces complexity, space and cost. It is well suited for very small and low-power applications. Integration of 802.15.4 and/or BLE connectivity into existing applications can also easily be achieved when using the New PAN4620 in hosted mode.

NXP Kinetis KW41Z SoC
The Panasonic PAN4620 module is based on the NXP Kinetis KW41Z system-on-chip, which combines a 2.4GHz radio supporting 802.15.4 and Bluetooth Low Energy wireless connectivity, and a microcontroller based on an Arm® Cortex®-M0+ core. The NXP KW41Z is an ultra-low-power, highly-integrated single-chip device that enables Bluetooth® Low Energy v4.2 and IEEE® 802.15.4 RF connectivity for portable, extremely low-power embedded systems.
Evaluation Board
ENWC9B01AQEF
We have included the PAN4620 Daughterboard which enables quick prototyping and software testing for its RF module. The PAN4620 Evaluation Kit is an all-inclusive and comprehensive platform based on an Arduino compatible daughterboard. The kit enables access to all of the pins on the PAN4620 module. Applications on the module can be implemented, and are recommended using NXP’s Bluetooth®, ZigBee® and Thread Software Development Kit (SDK). The SDK offers full software development support via a high-level application programming interface.
