NXP PCA9452 Power Management IC for i.MX 93x Auto Processor

The ideal automotive Power Management IC for i.MX 93 Processors

NXP features the PCA9452, an advanced AEC Q100 grade 2 automotive power management IC (PMIC), specifically designed for automotive applications utilizing the i.MX 93x family processors.

NXP’s PCA9452 features six high-efficiency step-down regulators and five low-dropout regulators (LDOs), ensuring optimal power delivery and energy efficiency. Additionally, it includes a 400 mA load switch, a 2-channel level translator, and a 32.768 KHz crystal oscillator driver, all integrated into a single chip.

Three of the buck regulators support dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) with programmable ramping times, allowing for precise control and adjustment of power levels. These regulators also support remote sensing to compensate for IR drop, ensuring stable power delivery to the load. The six step-down regulators are optimized to power i.MX 93x application processors and DRAM memory. The LDO1, with its very low quiescent current, is ideal for powering secure non-volatile storage (SNVS) as it remains active whenever the input voltage is valid.

The PCA9452 operates reliably across an ambient temperature range of -40 °C to 105 °C, making it suitable for a variety of automotive environments.

The integrated 2-bit, dual supply translating transceiver with auto direction sensing allows for bidirectional voltage level translation, and it can function as an I2C level translator. This feature enhances the flexibility and compatibility of the PCA9452 with various system designs.

The 400 mA load switch is designed to supply a 3.3 V power supply to an SD card, complete with an internal discharge resistor for added reliability.
