The ICL3221ECAZ is a single RS-232 transmitter and receiver interface circuit with manual and automatic power down function.

This device provide ±15 kV ESD protection on transmitter outputs and receiver inputs (RS-232 pins) and also feature an automatic power-down function which powers down the on-chip power-supply and driver circuits.
