Fonctionnalités et applications
Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a serial bus standard to interface devices to a host computer. USB was designed so that many peripherals can be connected using a single standardized interface socket and improve the plug-and-play capabilities, by allowing hot swapping. A UART is a type of "asynchronous receiver/transmitter", a piece of computer hardware that translates data between parallel and serial forms. A USB UART is a device that interfaces the USB and serial UART.
The FT232R is a USB to serial UART interface with optional clock generator output, and the new FTDIChip-ID™ security dongle feature. In addition, asynchronous and synchronous bit bang interface modes are available. USB to serial designs using the FT232R have been further simplified by fully integrating the external EEPROM, clock circuit and USB resistors onto the device.
