More Information on Static RAM...

What is Static RAM?

SRAM, static RAM, or static random access memory is an improvement upon DRAM. DRAM is composed of a capacitor and a transistor which require information to be periodically rewritten (or ‘‘refreshed’’) for data to remain valid. SRAM memory, on the other hand, does not need to be refreshed at all. Static RAM maintains its information as along as the chip has enough power to keep its data. The reason is because SRAM chips are made of a flip-flop circuit which does not need constant refreshing. Another benefit to static random access memory is very fast access speed, much faster than DRAM. The reason behind this speed is a configuration of six transistors which keeps current flowing in one direction or the other (the 0 or 1 state). Each state can be written and read instantly, and therefore the chip does not require a capacitor to fill up or drain. However, the six transistors use more space than DRAM cells which are composed of one transistor and one capacitor.

Types of Static RAMs

There are several different kinds of static RAM chips at Future Electronics. We stock many of the most common types categorized by several parameters including memory density, memory organization, nominal supply voltage, maximum access time, temperature grade, speed and packaging type. Our parametric filters will allow you to refine your search results according to the required specifications.

Static RAMs from Future Electronics

Future Electronics has a wide range of static RAMs from several chip manufacturers that can be used for programming a SRAM memory card or for any other devices requiring static random access memories. Once you decide if you need an asynchronous SRAM memory or a synchronous SRAM memory, you will be able to choose from their technical attributes and your search results will be narrowed to match your specific static RAM application needs.

We deal with several manufacturers such as Alliance Memory Inc, Renesas Electronics, Cypress or ON Semiconductor, among other manufacturers. You can easily refine your static RAM product search results by clicking your preferred static RAM brand from the list of manufacturers below.

Applications for static RAMs:

SRAM can be found in the cache memory of a computer or as part of the RAM digital to analog converter on a video card. Static RAM is also used for high-speed registers, caches and small memory banks like a frame buffer on a display adapter. Several scientific and industrial subsystems, modern appliances, automotive electronics, electronic toys, mobile phones, synthesizers and digital cameras also use SRAM. It is also highly recommended for use in PCs, peripheral equipment, printers, LCD screens, hard disk buffers, router buffers and buffers in CDROM / CDRW drives.

Choosing the Right Static RAM:

With the FutureElectronics.com parametric search, when looking for the right static RAMs, you can filter the results by category. We carry the following categories of static RAMs:

  • Synchronous SRAM
  • Asynchronous SRAM

Once you choose the static RAM category, you can narrow them down by various attributes: by memory density, nominal supply voltage, memory organization, speed and temperature grade, to name a few. You will be able to find the right static RAM chip for a SRAM memory card or for any other devices which might require static random access memories.

Static RAMs in Production Ready Packaging or R&D Quantities

If the quantity of static RAMs you require is less than a full reel, we offer to our customers several of our programmable static RAMs in tray, tube or individual quantities that will help you avoid unneeded surplus.

Future Electronics also offers its clients a unique bonded inventory program designed to eliminate potential problems that may arise from an unpredictable supply of products that could contain raw metals and products with erratic or long lead times.
