A clock buffer is a circuit element used to increase the current or drive of a weak clock signal and consequently increase its fanout.

Clock Buffers are found in computing, networking, and communication applications.

The SY89871UMG is a 2.5V/3.3V  LVPECL output precision clock divider capable of accepting a high-speed differential clock input (AC or DC-coupled) CML, LVPECL, HSTL or LVDS clock input signal and dividing down the frequeency using a programmable divider ratio to create a frequency-locked lower spped version of the input clock (Bank B). Available divider ratios are 2, 4, 8 and 16. In a typical 622 MHz clock system this would provide availability of 311MHZ, 155 MHz, 77 MHz, or 38 MHz auxiliary clock components.

The SY89871UMG  is a 2.5V/3.3V PECL output Clock Divider/Fanout Buffer in a 16-MLF® package. It feautures a wide operating range of -40°C to +85°C.
