NXP Semiconductors’ PRTR5V0U4D is designed to protect sensitive I/O lines such as USB2.0, Ethernet and DVI from damage due to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
USB2.0 interfaces handle data rates up to 480Mbits/s and consequently need ESD protection devices with extremely low line capacitance to avoid signal distortion.
With a capacitance below 2pF, NXP’s PRTR5V0U4D can offer protection to IEC6100-4-2, level 4.
The device integrates four pairs of ultra low capacitance rail-to-rail ESD protection diodes plus an additional Zener diode in a miniature 6-lead SOT457 (SC-74) package. The connection between the ground and supply voltage, provided by the Zener diode, prevents charging of the supply.
The ambient temperature of the device is -40°C to +85°C and the maximum input voltage stands at 5.5V. It is optimized to protect both USB data lines and the bus voltage without the need for any external components.
The PRTR5V0U4D is fabricated using monolithic silicon technology integrating four ultra-low capacitance rail-to-rail ESD protection diodes in a miniature 6-lead SOT457 package coming in a 3000 piece reel.
