Embedded Board Categories
System on Modules (SOMs) and Computer on Modules (COMs) are small circuit boards that include a central processing unit such as a microprocessor, microcontroller or FPGA, and key supporting devices such as DRAM, Flash, power management and passive components. Critical interfaces from the main processing unit are typically brought out to a connector that can be accessed on a carrier board to ultimately reduce the complexity of the final product design.
