Boyd Corporation 7721 Series of Thermally Conductive Insulating Shoulder Washers
Ideal for aiding in heat sink mounting
Boyd’s 7721 Series of thermally conductive insulating shoulder washers will significantly reduce thermal resistance and increase thermal system performance. Boyd shoulder washers are incredibly durable and are ideal for heat sink mounts. Insulating shoulder washers vary in geometries and materials for NVH and electrical insulation with thermal conductivity in addition to various mounting strengths.
Boyd offers a wide range of flexible and rigid materials to suit your application needs, if you do not see the material you are looking for, please ask.
Far too often applications fail due to seemingly insignificant details, sometimes with catastrophic results. One gasket, material, heat sink, or other component can be the difference between application success and degraded performance or failure.
Boyd’s PN 7721 Series of thermally conductive insulating shoulder washers are one of many thermal accessory products that Boyd offers to ensure that your applications and thermal systems are properly optimized down to the last detail.
These Boyd shoulder washers evenly distribute mounting loads and can insulate pass-through cables (or hardware). The more evenly you distribute mounting force, the more uniform thermal contact it provides, improving heat transfer and efficiency. In addition to improved thermal performance, shoulder washers can accomplish additional functions, making them an ideal part of your full system. They bear similarities to bushings and vary in geometries and materials to enable further functionality such as Noise, Vibration, and Harshness Dampening (NVH), mechanical support, and electrical or thermal insulation. Although often constructed of aluminum alloys, Boyd offers additional materials ranging in features and flexibility to suit your applications needs.
Shoulder Washers be used in a wide range of applications across many major industries, but are largely utilized for electrical insulation and mechanical applications. Washers are used to electrically insulate hardware such as screws, rivets or wires. Other washers are used mechanically to reduce vibration, provide a mechanical guide, or used as a bearing surface for rotary applications. The washer flange positively locates the washer and acts as a thrust bearing surface. Some applications such as CB antennas, if not properly isolated, can ground out the SWR readings. This could potentially lead to permanent damage when transmitting from the radio attached.
Thermally conductive electrical insulators made from polymers, such as those in the PN7721 Series, are chosen for their excellent flammability rating, resistance to a broad range of chemicals, and dimensional stability at high continuous use temperatures.
