Diodes Incorporated AL8866Q LED Driver Controller
85 V multi-topology with spread-spectrum
Geared for key automotive LED applications, the Diodes Incorporated AL8866Q LED Driver Controller supports four topologies: buck, buck-boost, boost, and single-ended primary-inductance converter (SEPIC). This versatility enables it to be used in a wide range of front and rear exterior lighting applications.
The AL8866Q features a wide input power supply range of 4.7V to 85V, which makes it suitable for 12V, 24V, and the growing 48V battery systems. The device’s peak current-mode control architecture and 400kHz fixed-frequency operation with spread spectrum frequency modulation ensure low EMI performance.
Allowing PWM or analog dimming of the LED current via its DIM pin, this LED driver controller achieves a dimming ratio greater than 100:1 at frequencies up to 1kHz. An open-drain fault flag, asserted low, indicates various fault conditions such as LED output overvoltage, LED output open/short, cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection, sense resistor and shorted inductor/diode detection, diode open circuit, and thermal shutdown.
The AL8866Q is offered in thermally enhanced SO-8EP and DFN3030-10 packages. For industrial and commercial applications, a standard compliance version, the AL8866, is available.
