More Information on RS-422...
What is RS-422?
In telecommunications, RS-422 is the name of the technical standard that specifies electrical characteristics of a digital signalling circuit. It is a standard for binary serial communications between devices. RS 422 is the protocol or specification that is to be followed in order to allow two devices that implement this standard to communicate with each other. The RS-422 standard is an updated version of the original serial protocol standard known as RS-232. Several systems directly interconnect using RS 422 signals. RS 422 converters can be used to extend the range of RS232 connections. Although the RS422 standard defines signal levels, the other properties of a serial interface are set by other standards. In communications, one device is the data terminal equipment (DTE) and the other device is the data communications equipment (DCE).
Types of RS 422 chips
There are several different kinds of RS-422 chips. At Future Electronics we stock many of the most common types categorized by operating temperature range, packaging type, data rate, supply voltage and ESD voltage. The parametric filters on our website can help refine your search results depending on the specifications required.
The most common sizes for Data rate are 10 Mbps, 20 Mbps and 50 Mbps. We even carry RS422 chips with data rate sizes up to 60 Mbps. Operating temperature can range from -65 oC to 150 oC.
RS 422 chips from Future Electronics
Future Electronics has a full selection of RS-422 chips from several manufacturers, including to be used as a RS-422 converter, RS 422 connector, RS-422 cable or a different termination type. Simply choose from the RS-422 technical attributes below and your search results will quickly be narrowed to match your specific RS 422 or RS 422 / RS 423 application needs.

Applications for RS422 chips:
The advantages of the RS 422 standard include the differential receiver, a differential driver and data rates up to 10 megabaud at 40 feet. A common use of EIA-422 is for RS-232 extenders. Post-production linear editing facilities and broadcast automation systems use RS-422A in order to remotely control the players / recorders located in the central apparatus room.
Choosing the Right RS-422 chip:
When you are looking for the right RS 422 chip or RS 422 / 423 chip, with the FutureElectronics.com parametric search, you can filter the results by various attributes: by Data Rate (10 Mbps, 20 Mbps, 50 Mbps, …), Operating temperature range (-65 oC to 75 oC), Supply Voltage (up to 5V) and ESD Voltage (up to 7 kV) to name a few. You will be able to find the right chip for your system including for a RS 422 connector, RS-422 cable, RS-422 converter or a different termination type.
RS 422 and RS 422 / 423 chips in Production Ready Packaging or R&D Quantities
If the quantity of RS-422 and RS-422 / 423 chips you require is less than a full reel, we offer to customers many of our RS422 and RS422/423 products in tray, tube or individual quantities that will avoid unneeded surplus.
