FTM / Security & Encryption / MEAN WELL — XLG Series LED Drivers
The XLG series of constant power-mode LED drivers from MEAN WELL, which are half the size of traditional drivers, provide a comprehensive set of certifications to ease the compliance process for luminaire manufacturers.
The IP67-rated XLG drivers are supplied in versions with power ratings ranging from 20 W to 320 W, and are compatible with various dimming methods. The drivers are suitable for applications in both indoor and outdoor environments.
To shorten manufacturers’ design cycles and simplify safety processes, MEAN WELL has applied for UL Class-P certification for XLG series drivers. The driver’s UL Class-P certification allows luminaires to gain UL certification for a luminaire faster. It also means that XLG drivers can be used as alternatives in luminaires which already use other Class-P drivers, without the need to perform additional safety evaluations on the luminaire’s driver.
The XLG series drivers also comply with the latest version of the IEC61347/GB7000.1-2015 and UL 8750 international safety regulations.
The MEAN WELL drivers’ constant-power architecture supports a wide range of operating currents. The output current can be adjusted from 70% to 100% of the maximum load, enabling designers to reduce both the number of design modifications needed across ranges of luminaire products, and streamlines driver inventory.
The XLG series drivers are supplied in versions with an output-voltage rating of 12 V or 24 V. These models are suitable for constant-voltage applications such as LED strip lights.
Offering up to 93% efficiency, the XLG series can operate at case temperatures between -40°C and 90°C with free air convection alone.
