FTM / Intelligent Sensing / Bosch Sensortec — Environmental Sensors
Bosch Sensortec supplies a range of barometric pressure and environmental sensors which work on the piezoresistive or capacitive principle to provide high accuracy and measurement stability.
When used in home applications or IoT products, the BME688 – the first gas sensor with built-in artificial intelligence (AI) – provides a gas scanning function which can be customized for sensitivity, selectivity, data rate, and power consumption.
In wearable devices, altitude measurements provided by a Bosch Sensortec pressure sensor enable accurate indoor navigation or localization and improve the reliability of calorie counts.
The latest generation of Bosch Sensortec environmental sensors includes the BMP581, which offers excellent relative accuracy of ±0.06 hPa and absolute accuracy of ±0.3 hPa. These accuracy specifications apply over a wide measurement range from 300 hPa to 1,100 hPa.
The BMP581 has a typical temperature coefficient offset of just ±0.5 Pa/K, and low noise of 0.08 Parms at 1,000 hPa. Long-term drift over 12 months is only ±0.1 hPa.
Compared to the BMP390 piezoresistive pressure sensor, from the previous generation of devices, the capacitive-sensing BMP581 draws 85% less current, noise is 80% lower, and the temperature coefficient offset is reduced by 33%.
Drawing just 1.3 μA at a sampling rate of 1 Hz, the BMP581 helps extend battery run-time in mobile and wearable applications.
The BMP581 is supplied in a 10-pin LGA package shielded by a metal cover, and measures 2.0 mm x 2.0 mm x 0.75 mm.
