Drive units provide efficient operation in BLDC motors

The VFD series from MEAN WELL is available in ac and dc versions, and supports motor ratings ranging from 150 W to 750 W. These fanless units provide for quiet and efficient motor operation.

MEAN WELL has launched the VFD series, a new line of industrial brushless dc (BLDC) variable-frequency motor drives which offer high efficiency and comprehensive compliance with safety standards.

The VFD series consists of eight models. Three provide a 48 V dc output operating from an input-voltage range of 20 V to 55 V dc, and are rated for power outputs of 150 W, 250 W or 350 W. These dc motor drives are supplied as open-frame units.

The other five models operate from an input range of 90 V to 264 V ac, and supply an output at 230 V ac. These ac units with a built-in PFC stage are rated for loads of 200 W, 250 W, 350 W or 750 W, and are available in either open-frame or enclosed formats.

The motor drives handle standard control and sensor signals, enabling motor speed and braking settings to be programmed with an external control card. MEAN WELL supplies a standard control board, the VFD-CB, to provide an off-the-shelf option for users of a VFD motor drive.
