Hirose Electric FX18 Series Board-to-Board Connectors

Robust 10 Gbits/s connectors offer high retention force

Hirose Electric’s FX18 series of high data-rate board-to-board connectors provides robust mechanical performance and easy assembly.

The FX18 connectors, which are supplied in right-angled, vertical and co-planar configurations, provide up to 140 contacts, and support data transfers at a signalling rate up to 10 Gbits/s. Six through-hole pins increase retention force, giving strong resistance to wrenching forces.

In addition, large mating guides are provided on the header to provide for smooth and easy mating. Keyed guides with integral chamfers prevent incorrect insertion. The FX18 design also helps to minimize manual soldering process time.

The FX18 features multi-functional contacts which can operate as either ground contacts, power-supply contacts or three-step sequential contacts. These sequential contacts are set back in different positions in the housing so that the ground contacts are mated before the signal contacts.

The power supply contacts carry up to 3 A per pin. The connector’s maximum current rating is 12 A.

The FX18 series is part of the FunctionMAX product family, which consists of board-to-board connectors designed to meet the requirements of the industrial market with maximum functionality.
