Renesas RA4E1 Group of MCUs

New MCUs based on Cortex-M33 core provide 100 MHz performance and low active power consumption

Renesas has introduced the 100 MHz RA4E1 Group, extending its 32-bit RA Family of microcontrollers with new parts offering best-in-class power consumption and high performance for cost-sensitive applications. The MCUs, based on an Arm® Cortex®-M33 core, give an easy upgrade path to other RA Family MCUs.

The four RA4E1 MCUs offer designers a choice of 64-lead LQFP and 48-lead QFN packages, and either 256 kbytes or 512 kbytes of Flash memory alongside 128 kbytes of SRAM. All RA4E1 devices have the lowest active power consumption in their class, drawing only 60 µA/MHz while executing from Flash at 100 MHz.

Providing an optimized combination of innovative peripherals, connectivity options and system cost-saving features, the RA4E1 MCUs are ideal for cost-sensitive applications, and for systems requiring a balance of performance and low power consumption.

The new RA4E1 group expands the Renesas RA Family to more than 150 parts operating at frequencies ranging from 48 MHz to 200 MHz. The RA Family MCUs offer industry-leading power consumption specifications, a wide range of communications options, and best-in-class security options, including Arm TrustZone® technology.

All RA devices are supported by the Renesas Flexible Software Program (FSP), which includes highly efficient drivers and middleware to ease the implementation of communications and security functions.

The FSP’s GUI simplifies and accelerates the development process. It enables flexible use of legacy code as well as easy compatibility and scalability with other RA Family devices. Designers using FSP also have access to the extensive Arm ecosystem, offering a wide range of tools which help to speed time-to-market.
