Fonctionnalités et applications
Overview:
ROHM offers a broad lineup of LED products, including PICOLEDs, EXCELEDs, compact thin-Chip LEDs, high-brightness Chip LEDs, high-power Chip LEDs, and LED lamps with a pressure release structure to eliminate solder failures.
ROHM's PICOLED™ - Using its second-to-none merits from world's smallest & thinnest configuration, ultra-fine LED matrices beyond common sense can be made, boosting the level of expression ultimately. Also, this device is indispensable for future design in for whatever application requiring downsizing.
ROHM’s EXCELEDTM [exceled] are a series 4-element (AlGaInP) high-intensity, high-reliability LEDs optimized for electronic devices requiring a level of quality previously reserved for the automotive and industrial industries. High brightness device and ultra-precise processing technologies ensure minimal long-term luminous degradation, even after 10 years, and brightness is stable in low current regions for increased energy savings, making them ideal for battery driven devices as well.
ROHM also offers series chip LEDs with reflectors that feature 1.5 times the brightness of similarly sized conventional molded products (i.e. 100mcd with SML-D12D8W vs. 160mcd with SML-T12D8T, emission color: orange at IF=20mA). A wide range of applications are possible due to the compact size (1.6x0.8x0.55mm and 2.0x1.25x0.55mm), including car audio and instrument systems, where high brightness and customization are in demand, as well as mobile devices and illumination lighting in consumer electronics.
ROHM has developed an alternative to CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) for backlight and illumination use in sets requiring relatively higher intensities. Proprietary technology was utilized in order to solve the problems of excessive heat generation and low efficiency that have been plaguing mid-range LEDs by increasing the heat dissipation paths to the substrate and adopting an exposed copper frame with high thermal conductivity. The PSML1 features a heat dissipation of 70℃/W and the PSML2 60℃/W, life span is increased, and high temperature operation is possible with no degradation in light intensity or fluctuation in color. These characteristics make them ideal for any application requiring relatively high intensity backlights, such as car navigation systems, portable DVD players, illumination light sources, interior lighting, vehicle indicator displays, and gaming devices.
Specific Description:
ROHM's through hole LED lamps comes with a pressure release structure to eliminate solder failures.
Pressure Release Structure:
Solder failure occurs when solder gases trapped during the solder process escape to the surface via holes in the solder surface as shown in photo 1 of the pressure release structure.
Photo 2 shows an LED lamp without solder holes, even during DIP (flow) soldering. The LED lamp is solidly mounted on the circuit board (See Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 of thr pressure release structure.).
Problems with solder holes and features of the pressure release structure:
Since there is insufficient solder adhesion when solder holes occur (Photo
