Future Electronics CoE releases application demo which shows new Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) implementation in multi-drop configuration. SPE is the new standard and uses a new PHY transceiver. It works with only one pair of wires. This approach reduces system complexity which has its effect in lowering costs. In addition, layers 2-7 stay the same, easing integration with existing solutions.
Presented board connections show multidrop scenarios when each end point can communicate with the other. Cables come in a range of up to 25m. One node is connected to PC where ‘iperf’ statistics can run on whole boards sets. Demo is based on Microchip evaluation boards which contains LAN8670 PHY IC and SAM E54 curiosity boards (MCU). In addition, demo shows complete system solution by adding TE 2364151-1(jack connector) and 2364150-1(plug).
